BERDO Eye Hospital

BERDO has established one Eye Hospital at Mirpur of Dhaka city to provide quality eye care services to poor and vulnerable eye patients at most affordable cost. Most eye diseases (80%) are preventable through easy and simple interventions and others by surgeries. In Bangladesh, most blindness (80%) is happening due to cataract. It is also preventable. However, poor patients and remote areas people cannot access to this avail this surgery due to poverty and low accessibility of care centres in remote areas. BERDO has been trying to reach these areas with eye care services. In this fiscal year BERDO organizes about 65 Eye Camps” at out of reach areas and provided eye services to 3594 patients who did not have easy access to these services. So far, BERDO has successfully been conducted 88 cataract surgeries that has tackled confirmed blindness of those patients. Besides, BERDO has been provided Eye care services to 2392 eye patients through OPD (Outdoor Patient Department).
